EMERGENCY NOTICE🚨🚨‼️

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Fire and Emergency Department is warning the public about a wildfire re-ignition on the N2 from Commercial Road Bridge to Stanford Road Bridge. The fire, previously brought under control, has reignited due to strong winds, prompting the closure of the N2 once again. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and Traffic Services have been deployed to manage traffic ensuring no accidents occur. The fire poses a significant threat, and residents are advised to exercise caution, stay alert, and avoid the area.

A single firefighting vehicle remains on the ground, with five firefighters tirelessly battling the blaze and are working tirelessly to contain it and protect nearby communities. Despite strong winds posing a challenge, efforts are focused on preventing the fire from spreading. Affected areas are under close watch, and authorities urge residents to exercise caution .

More updates will be issued as the situation develops, and residents are urged to report any signs of fire or suspicious activity.

Friday, 14 November 2025, all e-hailing drivers in Gqeberha (GQ) will be off the apps from 5AM to 8PM in solidarity for fair treatment, safety, and better working conditions.

There’s a lamppost at 41 King Edward Street, Newton Park, that’s loose and could fall over at any time — please be careful if you’re in the area.
