The breast cancer event that took place on the 21st of October 2021; was an out range event for our organisation. All stakeholders played their part and were always in order.
Breast Cancer victims felt welcomed and safe to share their stories and their experience. The victims were able to get the support that they needed from their families and friends; some of the victims expressed their true feelings to everyone.
We also had a spear from the survival of the disease, she came to show gratitude to her fellow community. And expressed her feelings on the situation at hand, she gave them some motivational words that are going to help them in the near future.
One survivor of the disease, stood up and started telling everyone exactly what she had experienced with her diagnosis. โ€œ the first time when I was diagnosed with breast cancer; I had no clue about breast cancer. It all took couple of words from the doctor to see that Iโ€™m seriously ill, my oncologist explained everything that was going on in my body and what type of treat I will need to fight the disease. I remember getting home with my husband, before we even went inside the house I said Iโ€™m never going to make it; because I believed that I was not that strong. And here I am today, I stand in front of you all and telling you that Iโ€™m breast cancer free and I made it through all the chemotherapy and other treatments.โ€ She gave other victims of cancer hope to at least fight this disease and it gave me joy to see some of them lighten up.
We had different oncologist from different hospitals(Pretoria West Hospital, Baragwaneth hospital, and Johannesburg Hospital.) The oncologist gave lessons about different kind of cancers that are commonly treated in our country. And the procedures to treat them.
The sponsor that supported the events were the ANC women league and coca cola(Coke). Even though they had no one to represent them in the event, they sent out all their regards to everyone. We are glad that they were able to help BRCA_SA raise awareness of cancer and breast cancer to the people.

We would like to thank everyone who was part of our event in any way. We hope and believe you have learnt more about the disease hole to meet with you guys again.
Thank you BRCA_SA fam.

Let's always stay safe and know where we stand.
