Pneumococcal Disease is a serious bacterial infection caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae and is especially dangerous for babies, young children, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Today, we’re raising awareness to help keep our little ones safe.

How it spreads:
Pneumococcal Disease spreads from person to person through contact with bodily fluids and secretions, such as:

Tuberculosis spreads through the air when speaking or coughing. Tuberculosis can be very infectious.

The signs & symptoms of TB are coughing, reduced playfulness: weakness or lethargy; failure to thrive, weight loss, fever, and night sweats.

Tuberculosis can spread through the whole body, which leads to other organs being infected, but TB mostly affects the lungs (70%-80%).

It is important to create awareness this month, because TB is both preventable and curable with proper medical treatment.
