Does your child chew on everything?

➡️ Chewing is a typical behavior for teething babies and toddlers, but some older kids can develop chewing as a habit.

Some activities can help kids reduce chewing habits, but speak to a healthcare provider if your child is chewing excessively, without a clear cause, and/or has trouble stopping.

Interoception is the sense of knowing what is going on INSIDE our bodies.

Things such as feeling:
Hunger
Thirst
Tired
Feeling pain
Temperature (Feeling hot or cold etc.)
Using the bathroom
Any other internal sensations

Hi, I’m Deidre Mills, an Occupational Therapist at KASI! 🌟 I’m married to a pilot who is a vestibular fanatic and sensory seeker – and our two toddlers take after their dad! ✈️ I love working with children and helping them unlock their full potential. Watching them develop, play, and grow is my passion. Each child is unique, and I enjoy building relationships with them to understand their needs.

I qualified at the University of Pretoria in 2014 and completed my Sensory Therapist qualification in 2021. I’ve always had a special interest in children on the Autism spectrum and those with sensory difficulties.
