In die nuutste weergawe van die Rooirose gesels ek oor "jy en jou kind en hoe kritiek 'n rol speel".

Dit is moeilik om jou kinders genoeg van reg en verkeerd te leer en terselfdetyd 'n omgewing te skep waar hulle ook 'n selfbeeld kan bou.

Ek deel van die riglyne wat ek in die artikel noem:

1. 'n Mens is nooit te oud om iets nuuts te leer nie. Doen navorsing
en toon belangstelling in die dinge waarvan jou kinders hou.
2. As jy kritiek lewer, moet dit nie uit irritasie, frustrasie of wanneer
jy kwaad is doen nie. Koel af, raak rustig en besluit waarop jy wil
kritiek lewer, hoekom en wat jy daaruit wil sien groei.
3. Wanneer jy kritiese terugvoering gee, bied ook ondersteuning
met die oplossing van die probleem. Dit is 'n geleentheid vir
kinders om gesonde vaardighede te leer en nie 'n kans om jou
mening af te dwing nie.
4. Wees bewus van jou lyftaal en stemtoon wanneer jy terugvoering
gee. Wees eg, maar sag.
5. Wanneer jy swakpunte uitwys, noem ook sterkpunte.

We are a month into 2023!
"I feel anxious"...

There might have been some changes in your life by now: whether you started at a new workplace, or your child is now in Grade 1 or maybe you moved to another town? Whatever it may be, anxiety always seem to find the way in.

The way we think, really influences the way we feel and that influences our reactions/actions.

Here are some things you can do:
1. Give attention to the thoughts going through your mind.
2. Change the β€œwhat if” list to a β€œwhat is” list (work with the facts).
3. Start writing down the things that you can control and the
things you cannot control.
4. Remember to breath.

As soon as you take control of your thoughts, you will feel calmer and this will change your reactions/actions. You will feel more in control of your life, have more energy and experience less anxiety.
