Understanding Morton’s Neuroma: A Common Cause of Foot Pain and Discomfort

If you’ve been experiencing sharp, burning pain, numbness or tingling in the ball of your foot or between your toes, you may have Morton’s Neurom - a thickening of the tissue around the nerves in your foot.

FROM: Conservative Treatments like:
1. Wear shoes with a wider toe box and lower heels to relieve pressure.
2. Orthotics or padding may help redistribute weight on your foot.
3. NSAIDs can reduce pain and inflammation.
4. Corticosteroid injections that may provide temporary relief

TO: If conservative treatments don’t help, surgery MAY be an option to relieve pressure on the nerve.

Our goal at the practice is to get you "back on your feet", pain-free! If you have questions or need more info, please visit: www.ankledoc.co.za or contact Elize, our receptionist, directly.

: Achilles tendon ruptures are a common injury, especially among men aged around 30-40, often referred to as "weekend warriors." These injuries typically occur when the foot is in a downward position (as when standing on tiptoe) and is suddenly forced upward, leading to a tear or snap of the tendon.

Patients often describe hearing a "pop" at the moment of injury, followed by weakness, difficulty walking, and heel pain, which may subside over time but leaves the foot weakened. Over time it becomes increasingly difficult to keep one’s balance.
