“Letsema: Men, Women, Boys and Girls working together to end GBVF.” ✊💜

As we look back on South Africa’s ongoing GBV crisis, we echo President Cyril Ramaphosa’s powerful words: "No society can thrive while gender-based violence continues and the agency of women is denied."

The violence inflicted on women and children tears at the fabric of our nation, limits our progress and weakens inclusive growth.

This year’s theme calls us to build positive masculinity, recognising that the fight against GBVF cannot leave men and boys behind. They are essential partners in challenging harmful norms, confronting power imbalances and breaking the silence that protects abusers.

At JPS Africa NPC, we proudly complement and support government services in the fight to prevent and ultimately end GBVF. 🤝🏽💜

Let’s work together.

21/11/2025

JPS Africa staff came together today to take a stand against GBVF — united in purpose, driven by compassion and committed to meaningful change.

Participation in this campaign reflects our organisation’s ongoing dedication to creating safer communities, amplifying awareness and supporting initiatives that protect and uplift the most vulnerable in society 💜.

Every new GBVF statistic in South Africa is not just a number — it’s a woman who never made it home. 💔

Our country is in crisis, and the data proves it.
If the numbers shock you, they should.
If they anger you, they must.
If they move you, act.

Where are you today?
Standing by? Or standing up?

💜 South Africa, we cannot stay silent.

Every 2.5 hours, a woman is murdered—15 lives stolen daily. This is an emergency.

They are our sisters, mothers, daughters, friends. On 21 November at 12 PM, we stand. We pause. We demand justice.

📍 Union Buildings, Pretoria
🖤 Wear black. Lie down for 15 minutes—one for every woman killed each day.

This is a call to declare GBV and Femicide a National Disaster. Until women stop dying, growth means nothing.

A Decade of JPS AFRICA:

A Decade of existence is no mean feat in the business world but for a NPO makes it even more special.

This is exactly what the celebrations was all about on the 15th of October at The Westin Hotel in Cape Town. JPS Africa celebrated our 10-year anniversary with the proverbial bang along with a rebrand as a night of glitz and glam blossomed in the Schappen Island room at The Westin Hotel.

The evening kicked off with Master of Ceremony, Mr Colin Daries having the room in rapture with witty banter and eloquent introductions.

Our keynote speaker, Prof Yogan Pillay provided much insight in the critical endeavours of funding in the health NPO sector as well as MMC in South Africa a decade later. Mr Dayanund Loykissoonlal gave us great perspectives on the work we have done from the National Health Department while Dr Gustaaf Wolvaardt spoke about JPS Africa from his position as Board Chairperson.

Then it was time for our MD Mrs Ida Asia to speak about the history and achievements of our organisation from its inception to where we are now and the direction for the future.

Dr Cynthia Geary spoke about the qualitative perspectives on a decade of progress within the JPS Africa medical male circumcision landscape.

Just before the evening came to a close, Mr Gershon Isaacs provided much needed meaning behind the rebranding and repositioning of JPS Africa and the new logo reveal.

Mr Vusi Mahlangu closed the black-tie affair with an amazing motivational extract about conquering your fears and doing the vote of thanks for all parties involved who made this all possible and a success.

Thank you once again JPS family!

🌍 World Heritage Day is a time to reflect on the richness of South Africa’s shared identity — our cultures, traditions, languages, and the values that unite us.

South Africa is home to 12 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the highest number in Africa — each recognised for its cultural, historical, or natural significance. These sites are part of a global effort to preserve what matters most to humanity. But heritage is more than places — it lives in our communities, in the everyday actions that shape a healthier, more empowered future.

As an organisation committed to improving the health and life quality of men, women and children across South Africa, we believe that health is a vital part of our heritage. Through our Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) programme, we’ve performed over 412,572 procedures, contributing to a legacy of wellness, dignity, and opportunity.

On this day, we honour the past, celebrate the present, and continue working toward a future where every South African can thrive.

🌍 World Patient Safety Day 2025: Strengthening Patient Safety in South Africa

Today, on World Patient Safety Day, we recognise the importance of safe, high-quality care for every patient. This global initiative, established by the World Health Organization (WHO), calls on healthcare providers, organisations and communities to work together to reduce harm and improve patient outcomes.
Patient safety is a fundamental right, yet healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) remain a significant challenge in South African healthcare facilities, contributing to preventable complications and longer recovery times. According to the WHO, up to 1 in 10 patients worldwide are harmed while receiving hospital care (WHO, 2021), emphasising the urgent need for strong safety practices locally.

At JPS Africa, patient safety guides everything we do. Through our Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) training programmes for clinicians and non-clinicians, we equip healthcare teams to deliver safe, dignified and effective medical male circumcision (MMC) services 💙:

Clinicians: Training aligns with WHO core standards, strengthening knowledge and skills to prevent HAIs and improve patient outcomes.

Non-clinical staff: Courses cover universal precautions, waste management and occupational safety, recognising that every team member plays a role in patient safety.

This World Patient Safety Day, we call on all healthcare providers and stakeholders in South Africa to prioritise patient safety. By working together and investing in IPC knowledge, we can create safer healthcare environments, protect patients and improve health outcomes across the country.
