Roxanne Zwart Counselling Psychologist Registered Counselling Psychologist in Garsfontein, Pretoria. I also conduct medico-legal assessments at Equilibrium Forensic Psychology.

I am a Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). I have worked with the community for several years in mental health, volunteering at organisations such as the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG), Lifeline, and the Victim Empowerment Centre (VEC) at the South African Police Services (SAPS). Beyond psychology, I have worked in areas such as childcare, office managerial, HR and safety management, which has given me a diverse understanding of greater industry. During my training I worked with diverse populations, providing psychotherapy (individual, group, and couples) as well as various psychological assessments to adults, adolescents and children. I am currently in private practice where I provide therapy and assessments for adults, adolescents and children at Satori Health Centre in Garsfontein, Pretoria, and I provide services to a children's home in Gauteng. The group is for adults who want to learn more about managing difficult or intense emotions, improve relationships and cope with challenging situations. The four core skills of Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation and Interpersonal Effectiveness will be taught.

Roxanne says: 'Anxiety is a normal emotional response to actual or perceived stress and danger. However, when it becomes persistent and overwhelming, it can interfere with daily life. Anxiety is more than just feeling worried or nervous.'

While anxiety can be beneficial—and even necessary—in situations that require focus or caution, it becomes problematic when the response is disproportionate, chronic, or intrusive in everyday life.
