With 2025 gone and 2026 ahead of us, this post serves to bring tribute to the ones we said goodbye to during 2025…
A while ago I was devastated when two ladies passed away within 24 hours, one at the facility and one at hospital. A retired old age home matron, who is a friend of mine and a wonderful, sweet lady asked me why I was so upset and I confided in her that I could not stand losing against death, that it made me feel like I lost a big battle. She told me that I should not see it like that, that I should feel privileged that God chose our facility as the ‘last bus stop’ before their final departure on this last stretch of their journey to meet their Maker. She also reminded me that our line has been drawn before birth and all I needed to do was make the ‘stay’ as wonderful as I could. This changed my perspective altogether.
This tribute serves as a ‘Goodbye, until we meet again’ to those dear residents who spent their ‘last days’ at our facility, enriching our lives with their special character traits. We miss you dearly…
