Your retina is made up of two different kinds of cells:

👁️‍🗨️ on the outside of your retina - here you'll find cells catching information about your surroundings, this is where contrast and movement is received. We call this our "where" system, because it shows you your position in your surroundings.

🎯 in the middle of your retina - here you find cells that receive details about what you're looking at: colour and focused imaging. We call this our "what" sytem, because it decodes what you are looking at.

Inside the retina, these special cells called photoreceptors (rods and cones) convert light into tiny electrical signals.

🧠 These signals travel along the optic nerve straight to your brain, where they’re decoded into the colours, shapes, and details you see every second.

De Jongh Optometry also offers Vision Therapy through our new division - Eyemind Inc. Therapy is done to correct certain vision problems especially in children and patients who suffered from traumatic brain injuries such as stroke or concussion.
