For decades, estrogen was portrayed as a potential villain in women’s health, particularly feared for its perceived link to breast cancer. Many women were advised to avoid hormone therapy, and countless others silently endured menopausal symptoms due to outdated research and widespread misinformation.
But times, and science, have changed.
The New Evidence: A landmark study published in Obstetrics & Gynecology (2024) has helped turn this narrative on its head. It found that estrogen, particularly conjugated equine estrogen, may reduce breast cancer mortality by up to 45% over an 18-year follow-up period. This reinforces what more recent studies have shown: estrogen therapy, when appropriately prescribed, can be protective - not harmful.
Estrogen is not the enemy. When prescribed correctly, it can be a powerful ally in protecting your health, improving your quality of life - and potentially reducing your breast cancer risk.
