Prism correction is a special type of lens designed to help when your eyes don’t line up properly. When the eyes aren’t perfectly aligned, your brain receives two different images, which can cause double vision, eye strain, headaches, or difficulty focusing.

Prism lenses work by bending light so that images fall in the correct spot on each eye. This helps your brain combine the two images into one clear picture, making your vision more comfortable and reducing strain.

While prism correction doesn’t fix the underlying eye muscle or nerve issue, it helps you see clearly and comfortably in your day-to-day life.

Double vision, also known as diplopia, occurs when the eyes don’t work together the way they should. Normally, both eyes focus on the same spot, and the brain fuses those two images into one clear picture. But when the eyes are even slightly misaligned, the brain receives two different images resulting in double vision.

There are several possible causes of double vision. Sometimes it’s linked to eye muscle imbalances (like strabismus), or nerve problems that affect how the eye muscles move.

If you’ve been noticing double vision it’s important to have your eyes checked. At STB Optometrists, we perform comprehensive eye exams to find the cause and recommend the right solution for you.
