We’re so thrilled to welcome a new member on board!

We are endlessly grateful that the practice has been growing so rapidly, and with so many wonderful children, adults and their families joining us on their journey, we knew it was time to bring another remarkable speech therapist on board. We’re so excited to welcome Caitlin Rawlins to our team!🥳

She brings incredible skill, compassion, and energy to the table, and we know our families will love working with her as much as Nicole and I already do.

Welcome to the family, Caitlin – we’re so glad you’re here!🤍

A little bit more about Caitlin:

“My name is Caitlin Rawlins and I am a passionate and dedicated Speech Therapist. I
graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2023 with great drive and determination to make a difference wherever the profession took me.

I have always loved talking and have always been fascinated with the ability we as humans
have to communicate and form connections. Growing up with a mother who is a nurse
fostered a love for the human brain and body and all of its intricate functions. Speech
Therapy seemed the obvious choice as the perfect career path for me, combining everything that I love and I am so glad I chose it.

I completed my community service year at Tembisa Provincial Tertiary Hospital, where I
gained invaluable experience working with a diverse range of in-patients and out-patients.
During this time, my passion for people and the profession grew even more than I could
have imagined. My clinical experience includes pediatric and adult dysphagia, acquired
neurological communication disorders, tracheostomy and PEG tube management, and
breastfeeding support in neonatal and premature wards. I have worked with a variety of
conditions, including ASD, cerebral palsy, various syndromes, stuttering, articulation and language disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, and with patients presenting with hearing loss. I also provided video swallow studies and collaborated closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Since then, I have gained experience with adults at a step-down clinic, focusing on acquired
neurological communication and swallowing disorders.

My special interests include early communication, lactation, and adult neurology as well as paediatric and adult dysphagia.

I am committed to helping individuals of all ages enhance their communication and
swallowing abilities. I believe in walking a journey with my clients and their families, providing
compassionate care and evidence-based interventions tailored to their unique needs. I
believe in the power of teamwork, kindness and optimism. I am highly adaptable and always
eager to grow, learn, and refine my skills to provide the best possible care.

I look forward to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those I work with, fostering
growth and confidence every step of the way.”

Welcome to the team dear Caitlin! We are delighted that you have decided to join us🥳

I am very excited to announce that Nicole Trollip is our new Speech-Language Therapist at the practice!🥳

Your experience, dedication to patient-care and compassion is going to make such a big difference in the lives around you.

I could not have asked for a better partner in crime to change the lives of the individuals we work with, side-by-side🤍

Nicole and I have come a long way together, 10 years, to be specific. From going to high-school together, being amazing friends and motivating each other endlessly during our studies at the University of Pretoria and now, officially, colleagues.

I am beyond grateful to be able to welcome you to the team!!!🥳

“My name is Nicole and I have been a speech therapist for the past three years. I graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2021 and have been loving what I do ever since. As a young little girl, have I struggled with stuttering and personally experienced the benefits of speech therapy. This has given me a deep understanding of the unique challenges each of my patients face and sparked my interest in becoming a therapist empowering others with different needs.

I completed my community service year at Fezi Ngubentombi District hospital in Sasolburg. My passion was further ignited during this year, where I had the exposure to work with both the paediatric and adult population. With only minimal resources, I was challenged to quickly think on my feet. This experience deepened my commitment to helping individuals with special needs, particularly those in the neurodiverse community, such as those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and other developmental conditions.

I also developed a profound interest and commitment in supporting mothers and breastfeeding babies in the neonatal ward as part of early intervention. This inspired me to further explore breastfeeding support in the field of speech therapy and I am currently completing a lactation consultancy course through the SACLC.

Further, I have had the opportunity to work in a sub-acute facility for two years. Mainly treating aquired neurological communication and swallowing disorders such as Aphasia, Apraxia, Dysarthria and Dysphagia that many adults experience after having a stroke or an aquired brain injury.

I’m always eager to expand my knowledge and skills. My approach is centered around creating a welcoming and supportive environment where individuals feel comfortable and empowered to communicate in their own way. I believe in fostering a therapeutic space that is both nurturing and inclusive, ensuring that each individual receives the personalized care they need to thrive.

As I continue my journey in this field, I’m excited to keep learning and growing, both professionally and personally, to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those I work with.

I am excited to start my journey working with you!”

It was such a privilege to be on air this morning with Tshwane FM 93.6 for International Stuttering Awareness Day. Creating awareness and being able to speak about these topics on a platform like this is truly amazing. Thank you for having me!
