💉🌍 African Vaccination Week is a powerful reminder that prevention saves lives - every single day. 🚑

As an emergency response team, we often meet people on their hardest days. But many emergencies can be prevented through something simple, safe, and effective: vaccination.
Vaccines protect not just individuals, but families, workplaces, and entire communities. They reduce the spread of disease, ease the burden on healthcare systems, and help ensure that emergency services can focus where they’re needed most.

This week, we stand with healthcare workers and communities across the continent to promote:
✅ Timely vaccinations
✅ Accurate health information
✅ Stronger, healthier communities

Because preparedness isn’t only about responding to emergencies - it’s about preventing them. 💙

Let’s work together to build a safer future, one vaccination at a time.

47% of all road deaths in South Africa are pedestrians.

Nearly half.

They are the most vulnerable users on our roads. They have no seatbelt, no airbag, no metal frame around them. And when a pedestrian is struck, they are often found without any form of identification.

No phone. No wallet. No medical details for the paramedic who arrives on scene.

The CrisisOnCall wristband changes that.

It stays on your body when everything else is lost. One call to the number on the band gives first responders immediate access to your medical history, allergies, emergency contacts, and medical aid details.

Speaking on your behalf when you cannot.

Whether you walk to work, commute through busy intersections, or simply cross the road every day, the wristband is the one form of ID designed to survive an accident.

One Person’s Crisis Is Everyone’s Priority

When someone experiences a crisis, it might feel like their world has suddenly stopped.

But behind the scenes, a network of people immediately begins working together - coordinating, guiding and helping resolve the situation.

At Crisis On Call, every activation matters because every person matters.

To us, it’s never “just another call.”

It’s someone’s safety, someone’s family, someone’s moment of need.

And that’s something we take seriously.

🚑 Emergency Wound Care: What To Do First 🚑

In an emergency, quick action can make a critical difference. If someone is bleeding:
1️⃣ Apply Pressure
Use a clean cloth, bandage, or even your hand if nothing else is available. Press firmly over the wound to help slow the bleeding.

2️⃣ Keep Pressing
Do not lift to “check” the wound. Continuous pressure is what allows a clot to form. If blood soaks through, add more material on top and maintain pressure.

3️⃣ Elevate the Wound
If possible, raise the injured area above the level of the heart. This helps reduce blood flow and supports clotting.

⏱️ Stay calm, act quickly, and call emergency services if bleeding is severe or doesn’t stop.

Preparedness saves lives. Share this so more people know what to do when seconds matter.

Easter sunday

Today is a day for family. For gratitude. For being together.

If you made it to your destination safely, do not take that for granted. Not every family had the same outcome this weekend.
Before you head home tomorrow, remember what got you here safely. The preparation. The rest stops. The decision not to take chances on the road.

The return journey deserves the same care as the one that brought you here.

Plan your departure. Avoid driving tired or in the dark. Let someone know your route and your expected arrival time. And keep your CrisisOnCall membership active, because the road home matters just as much.

From all of us at CrisisOnCall, we wish you and your family a peaceful Easter.

May every journey end with a safe arrival.

Official Message from CrisisOnCall

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we extend our sincere condolences on the passing of a dedicated paramedic who served with courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment to saving lives.

Paramedics are often the first to respond in moments of crisis, placing the safety and wellbeing of others above their own. This fallen hero embodied the true spirit of service — answering the call at all hours, standing strong in the face of adversity, and bringing hope where it was needed most.

On behalf of CrisisOnCall, we honour and remember a life devoted to protecting and caring for others. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten, and their legacy will continue to inspire all who serve in emergency medical services.

We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends, colleagues, and the entire emergency services community during this difficult time. May you find comfort in knowing that their service made a real and lasting difference in the lives of many.

Rest in peace, Hero.
Your watch has ended, but your impact lives on. 🖤🚑

Today we remember the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Good Friday is a time to pause and reflect on the cross, on love shown through sacrifice, and on the gift of grace given freely to us. It is a reminder of how precious life is, and how deeply we are cared for.

As millions of South Africans travel this Easter weekend, we are reminded that every life matters. Last Easter, 307 people lost their lives on our roads in a single long weekend. Most of these tragedies were preventable.

Before you begin your journey today, take a moment.

Drive with patience. Stay alert. Rest when you need to. Look out for others on the road. Honour the value of life, not only in reflection, but in action.

CrisisOnCall Trip Monitoring keeps watch over your journey, checking in at intervals and escalating if something is wrong. Your wristband carries your medical information for first responders, and our call centre is available 24/7 to coordinate help when it is needed most.

This Good Friday, let us remember the sacrifice of Jesus and choose to protect the lives around us.

Travel safely this Easter. Arrive alive.
