✨Do you stress eat?
Food can easily become a coping mechanism, which can cause a challenging relationship with food.
Eating as a way of coping with stress or any type of emotion can feel like a short-term immediate relief of the discomfort, but can cause a variety of problems as it becomes a habit.
Practicing ways to cope with feelings outside of food will help you have better self awareness, mind-body connection, and find healthy ways to soothe the discomfort.
I use this exercise with clients and it can be helpful to practice coping with feelings outside of food.
It has 3 parts:
✔️WHAT am I feeling?
✔️WHY am I feeling this way?
✔️HOW can I cope with these feelings right now?
❗️STOP-DROP-FEEL❗️
There’s a lot of stress, fear, anxiety, loneliness, and other feelings of discomfort right now.
When you experience these feelings, use this exercise daily, hourly, or even by the minute!🙂
This is a learned skill and will take practice, so be patient with yourself as you learn and grow.
Food is amazing, but it can become frustrating when all you want to do is eat your feelings.
