[In images] Day 1 reminded us that when women lead, campuses transform.
Our peer educators, SDS ambassadors, and staff members from the Tshwane University of Technology โ€” including the Directorate of Health and Wellness (Ga-Rankuwa Campus), Student Development & Support, Disability Unit, Strategic Support, Student Judiciary, and CPS โ€” brought the energy, the voice, and the vision to the Gender Practitioners COP Conference, representing TUT with excellence and purpose.

As the first day of the Gender Practitionersโ€™ Community of Practice (CoP) conference drew to a close, the spotlight shifted to student voices. Young leaders from universities delivered powerful testimonies and actionable proposals on addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and advancing gender transformation on campuses.

Higher Health, the implementing arm of DHET, in partnership with one of our key funders, the National Skills Fund (NSF), stands at the forefront of supporting more than 2.1 million young people across all 26 public Universities, 50 TVET and 9 CET Colleges.

As the country observes the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, we reaffirm our commitment to building campuses where safety, dignity and support are non-negotiable.

Through our GBV prevention programmes, psychosocial team, campus care workers and peer educators, Higher Health is strengthening early detection, rapid response and access to critical services for survivors.

Every report matters.
Every voice matters.
Every student deserves to feel safe.

This 16 Days of Activism, we call on all students, staff and communities to stand with us in ending GBV โ€” not only during this period but throughout the academic year and beyond.
