Today is World Haemophilia Day - a time to raise awareness about haemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders, and to highlight the importance of comprehensive care in improving quality of life.
Haemophilia affects the body’s ability to clot blood properly, which can lead to prolonged bleeding and, importantly, repeated joint bleeds. Over time, this can result in pain, reduced mobility, and long-term joint damage if not properly managed.
Physiotherapy plays a vital role in the care and management of individuals living with haemophilia. Through guided movement, strengthening, and rehabilitation, physiotherapy helps to:
- Protect and preserve joint health
- Improve muscle strength and stability
- Reduce pain and inflammation
- Restore mobility after bleeds or injury
- Prevent long-term complications
Early intervention and consistent physiotherapy can make a significant difference - supporting independence, confidence, and overall well-being.
This World Haemophilia Day, we stand with those affected and reaffirm our commitment to helping every individual move better, live stronger, and stay active safely.
If you or a loved one is living with haemophilia, our team is here to support you with personalised, evidence-based care.
