A call to our male heroes. It is recommended that you should start having prostate health screening discussions with your healthcare provider from the age of 45 years. It is also important to also do regular self-exams to become aquainted with the standard look and feel of your testicles - helping you to detect any abnormalities like lumps, swelling or changes in size or firmness. See a doctor if you notice anything unusual, get checked immediately should you find any changes.

Prostate cancer is a common cancer among South African men. It often grows slowly and may not show symptoms until it has advanced. That is why screening is key. Early detection can save your life.

Screening methods to follow:

-PSA blood test: Measures prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels. Elevated PSA may indicate cancer or other prostate issues.
-Digital Re**al Exam (DRE): A doctor checks for abnormalities in the prostate by feeling through the re**um.
-Biopsy and imaging: If PSA or DRE results are concerning, further tests may be done to confirm diagnosis.

Warning signs may include difficulty urinating or a weak stream, frequent urination (especially at night), blood in the urine or semen, and pelvic pain or erectile dysfunction.
