It’s a nostalgic day!
Prepping my client notes for the day - and they are all from a looonnggg time ago! The dates are even fading 😄😄✒️. I think the sy were kids when they first came and now they’re grown fictional adults . We started in 2010, 2013 and 2017 ..
so special to walk a long journey with clients

Things to do during a session!

How about having a little fun during your treatment ?
How about a little distraction from the pain in your neck and the tight spots on your skull?
What if you could build a necklace or a tower while the restriction of diaphragm gets relief - using a firm touch along the back?

The brain needs to move freely in the skull and the needs to move freely over whole body and skull.
Tension in the Fascial network can feels a lot like anxiety and jumpiness , it’s important to make the whole appointment as kind and easy as possible .
Suitable for all ages
It’s gentle, it’s effective

Session 16/42 Imagine being exhausted and struggling to fall asleep as your limbs keep twitching - that’s the reality of spasticity in a body with cerebral palsy
Hitekani came for 42 Hyperbaric Oxygen sessions - and we documented the changes. Protocol for brain injury is 40 sessions and that is a huge commitment of resources

It was so exciting when he noticed that reduced spasticity and twitching in the limbs means he’s getting way better quality sleep- and we all need good sleep for our brains to function optimally

These involuntary movements which are tiring and disruptive began to reduce almost immediately after his first Oxygen session and by Session he could interact more easily without the interruptions of an ever-moving body

“What you’re doing is massive” she said . I going for weeks at a time without a headache - and that means I’m not taking pain pills all day

After the second session my ear stopped ringing - and that means I’m getting deeper and better sleep

My neck is not cracking anymore and I’m not fighting upper back pain all day

After the third session I realised “I’m back!’”.
I’m clearer and more focussed. I used to ah e meltdowns causes bu the stress of the constant severe headache - now I’m in control of my emotions

Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension means severe headaches from a buildup of pressure of cerebral spinal fluid over the brain 🧠. It often affects sight (because of pressure on the optic nerves), but also dizziness, ear ringing and even vomiting

has been proven to enhance lymphatic drainage of the brain and allow for improved movement of cerebro-spinal fluid, from the brain down the spine and back again

It’s a tangible and effective treatment for patients who need relief but also optimised circulation - from the brain, down the neck and over the spine to get healthy intracranial pressure 🙌🏽

Aimee’s back!

After so many postponements of the massive surgery to her legs , because of a recurring lung infection… it’s done 👏🏽👏🏽🤩🤩.

It was a long hard slog for the Cowan family as Aimee Mileah Cowan navigated severe pain. And having her legs in casts for months. And then chafing sores and then boots and then winter .

But she has fully healed from the surgery to her legs - which involved cutting through bones, muscles, nerves and tendons, to straighten them. And all the while, carefully
Monitoring her immune system, especially her lungs

So we’re back to “normal” - weekly Hyperbaric Oxygen sessions, which soften those tight tissues and heal the brain , a little bit at a time. And all the while Aimee gets taller and more mobile and more vocal and was full of laughs about being back.

And even has her own paediatric mask 💪🏽for directing every last bit of concentrated oxygen into her body

Such an interesting presentation last night by Angela Buck of . Angela is a physiotherapist and CranioSacralFascial Therapist in the Western Cape. Angela and I trained Gillespie Approach - Craniosacral Fascial Therapy at the same time and she has gone on to specialise in BreastFeeding and understanding Tongue Ties.

We learnt about different and ancient treatments for tongue ties (midwives and their sharp nails 🤯😳)

We looked at the Fascial connections from the Tongue way down to the toes and how a tongue tie can present as restrictions all thee way through the body.

We looked at Mouth Breathing, Poor latching, Speech Development and crawling and how it is all inter-connected.
We spoke about Tight Jaws and Teeth grinding and how that affects teenagers and adults throughout life.

This subject is trending on social media a fair bit, with the usual conflicting views. Angela said there has been some push back in the Cape, but she has been invited to speak with a group of paediatricians, to enhance understanding and collaboration - that's AMAZING!

The presentation was kindly hosted by Sonia Hawkins of RMTi - Rhythmic Movement Training International

So many good people doing good work out there !
