It’s TB Awareness Month. ❤️

Tuberculosis (TB) spreads through the air, especially in crowded or poorly ventilated spaces.

You may be at higher risk if you’ve had close contact with someone with untreated TB or if you have a weakened immune system.

The good news? TB is preventable and treatable- when detected early.

Umvuzo Health members have access to the Active Disease Management Programme, offering structured support and guidance throughout treatment.

Know the risk. Take action. Stop the spread.

💊 Medications can be lifesaving, but only when used safely.

Protect your health by taking these simple steps:
• Keep a list of all your medication and supplements
• Always ask before adding something new- even “natural” remedies
• Take medication exactly as prescribed
• Speak up and contact your GP if you feel unwell or have an adverse reaction to medication

You can also use a trusted medication interaction checker, like

🫀 Managing high blood pressure isn’t about drastic changes.

It’s about small, consistent habits that support your health over time.

Here are practical ways to take control:
• Reduce salt when cooking and at the table
• Choose fresh foods over processed options
• Read food labels for hidden sodium
• Stay active most days of the week
• Take medication exactly as prescribed

Being mindful of everyday choices can help protect your heart, kidneys, and overall well-being.

Small steps today can make a meaningful difference tomorrow. 💛

🫀 High blood pressure develops over time, but so does better health.

One simple change that can make a real difference is reducing salt. Lowering your salt intake can help manage blood pressure, protect your heart and kidneys, and improve how blood pressure medication works.

Be mindful of hidden salt in processed and takeaway foods, and remember: small, consistent choices add up to lasting health.
Less salt. Better pressure.

⚠️ Medication is meant to help- but mixing the wrong medicines, supplements, or alcohol can be dangerous.

Medication interactions can happen when:
• Medicines affect how each other work
• Side effects become stronger
• Supplements or herbal remedies are added without guidance

That’s why it’s important to always check with a healthcare professional before combining treatments.

Speak to a GP or pharmacist to ensure your medication is working FOR you, not against you.
Your safety matters.

Rewarding Life

Since Umvuzo Health’s inception in 2004 it has always been our aim to reward life. Umvuzo Health is a Nguni word, with its very meaning being ‘reward.’ We are far more than a medical aid. We were created on the foundation of being a medical aid for the people,

with the vision to reward life.

We work closely with our clients, brokers and consultants to maintain close relationships and to keep evolving and innovating with changing needs. Our 95% retention rate is clear evidence that indeed, we keep close ties with our members, their representatives, employers, brokers and all stakeholders to ensure we continue understanding the changing needs of our members.

It is important for us to make healthcare more accessible to companies and their employees. By doing this, greater work ethic is created with decreased absenteeism creating a positive environment.
