Growth and change is difficult without confrontation that challenges your comfort zone. Ultimately, there will be no other path to choose from if there is nothing to confront your current belief system.

Consequences are the signposts to reality. In addiction an addict struggles to realise the reality of their life situation. When family members and/or friends remove or soften the consequences, it is impossible for an addict to face the grave reality of the path they are on and the inevitable consequence of that path, emotionally, psychologically and socially.
