Corneal Cross-Linking is a specialised procedure used to strengthen the cornea and slow the progression of keratoconus — a condition where the cornea becomes thin and cone-shaped, leading to distorted vision.

Early detection is key. Regular eye examinations can help identify keratoconus before significant vision changes occur and allow for timely treatment to preserve your sight.

If you’ve been experiencing changes in your vision or have been diagnosed with keratoconus, book a consultation with us to discuss your options and protect your vision.

Tablets and laptops are part of modern learning — but too much screen time can strain young eyes. Headaches, blurry vision, dry eyes, and poor concentration are common, but preventable.

With good lighting, proper screen distance, regular breaks, and plenty of outdoor play, small habits can protect growing eyes and support better focus at school.

As we step into a new year, it’s the perfect time to prioritise your eye health. Small habits can make a big difference in protecting your vision long term.

Here are my top 3 eye care tips for 2026:

1. Never sleep or swim with contact lenses.

2. Schedule your annual eye check with an ophthalmologist or optometrist.

3. Consider LASIK or other vision correction options if suitable for you.

Healthy eyes support everything you do so make your vision a priority this year.

A new year always invites us to pause, reflect, and set intentions.

Setting goals at the beginning of the year helps give direction, purpose, and something meaningful to work toward — whether it’s health, family, growth, or balance.

I’ve set my goals for the year ahead, both personally and professionally, and I’m excited for what’s to come.

Now I’d love to hear from you. What goals are you setting for yourself this year?

Back to School, Back to Clear Vision

As children head back to the classroom, good vision is just as important as new uniforms and stationery. Many learning difficulties start with undetected vision problems — from struggling to see the board to headaches and poor concentration.

A routine eye test before or early in the school year can help identify issues that may affect your child’s reading, writing, and overall confidence in class.

Signs your child may need an eye check:
• Squinting or sitting too close to screens
• Frequent headaches or eye rubbing
• Difficulty reading or concentrating
• Complaints of blurry vision

Starting the school year with healthy eyes sets your child up for success. If in doubt, book an eye examination and give them the clear vision they need to thrive this year.

Does wearing spectacles weaken your vision over time

Wearing spectacles does not make your vision worse. Glasses simply correct your sight — they don’t weaken your eyes or make them “dependent.” Skipping the right prescription, however, can lead to eye strain and headaches. Clear vision is care, not harm.

Noticing little spots, threads, or shadowy shapes drifting across your vision? These are called eye floaters, and in many cases, they’re completely harmless. Floaters often become more noticeable with age as the gel inside the eye naturally changes.

However, not all floaters should be ignored. Seek urgent eye care if you experience:
• A sudden increase in floaters
• Flashes of light, especially in your side vision
• A dark curtain or shadow moving across your vision

These symptoms can signal a retinal tear or detachment, which is a medical emergency and needs immediate treatment to prevent permanent vision loss.

Diabetes doesn’t only affect blood sugar — it can quietly affect your eyes too. High glucose levels can damage the tiny blood vessels in the retina, leading to diabetic retinopathy, often without any early warning signs.

Many patients see perfectly well in the early stages, which is why this condition can progress unnoticed until vision is permanently affected.

The good news? Early detection saves vision. A simple, painless retinal exam once a year can make all the difference.

Pregnancy changes everything — including your eyes!
Thanks to hormonal shifts, some moms-to-be may notice blurred vision, dry eyes, or increased sensitivity during pregnancy. Don’t panic — most of these changes are temporary and settle after delivery.

That said, your eyes are good at sending signals.
Severe, sudden, or persistent vision changes are not normal and should always be discussed with your doctor or ophthalmologist. Listen to your body, rest your eyes, stay hydrated, and don’t skip your check-ups.

Because growing a human is impressive — your vision shouldn’t have to struggle along the way!
