RE: LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION: MARISKA STRYDOM
Dear Sir/Madam
I, Tanya van As, hereby kindly submit my letter of recommendation for Mariska Strydom, who took
care of my 75 year old father.
My father suffered a stroke during September 2024 just before undergoing bilateral cataract
surgery. This was unknown to us at this time. As a result of the stroke, he lost the use of the left
hand side of his body, had neurological issues and was wheelchair bound.
As a family without any experience herein and seeking the best for our father, decided to recruit the
assistance of a 24 hour carer through Annemarie’s Home Care – Caregiver Provider (Uitenhage,
Despatch & Port Elizabeth). Annemarie arranged a carer named, Mariska Strydom in a matter of one
day, which we are truly grateful for. Mariska entered our lives and within two months, phenomenal
changes took place.
Mariska had my father walking, eating and showering on his own within a few weeks. She is
determined in assisting her patient to live a full and normal life by even assisting my father in driving
lessons as this is his career.
Abovementioned is the result of her dedication, patience and determination to succeed. Her caring,
loving and positive soul for her patients reflects in the manner in which she handles, talks and cares
for even the most difficult patients.
Mariska also went above and beyond to assist my mother, whom suffers from osteoporosis, with
everyday chores and accompanied my parents to every doctor visit when myself or my siblings were
unable to.
It takes a special person to do the job a carer does, and Mariska is definitely a reflection thereof. She
is not only an Angel whom entered our lives in the most difficult times, but she is now a lifelong
family friend.
