To our Pretoria community: Please watch out for this "Summer Spike" ⚠️☀️

As the temperatures rise this week, we want to share an important health warning. At Africa Urology, we often see a sharp increase in patients coming in with kidney stones during the hottest months of the year.

Why does this happen? It’s not just about forgetting to drink water. The heat changes how your body handles fluids. When you sweat, your urine becomes highly concentrated with minerals like calcium and oxalate. If there isn't enough fluid to flush them out, they stick together and form painful stones.

The good news? You can prevent this. We have written a new article on our website explaining exactly how to "kidney-proof" your routine this summer, including why adding a simple slice of lemon to your water can make a huge difference.

Stay cool and keep that water bottle close today!

Not all health concerns announce themselves loudly.

Small changes — like urinary habits, discomfort, or ongoing symptoms — are often easy to ignore, especially when life is busy.

Starting the year with clarity can give you peace of mind and help prevent bigger problems later.

If something doesn’t feel right, booking a consultation is a good first step.

Meet Zinhle Dlamini, one of the clinical associates at Africa Urology.

Zinhle works closely with our patients — helping them understand their conditions, guiding them through assessments, and ensuring they feel informed and supported before procedures.

Behind the scenes, she also assists with medical reports, theatre bookings and ongoing team development, helping everything run smoothly.

She’s currently furthering her studies in Health Systems Science, adding a broader understanding of healthcare systems to her hands-on patient care.

We’re proud to have Zinhle as part of our team.

We all know December meals hit different — and so does the uncomfortable fullness afterward.
Try this simple hack:

🍽️ Wait 10 minutes before going back for seconds.
It gives your stomach time to send the “I’m full” signal so you can enjoy without overdoing it.

A small way to give back to your body while still enjoying every moment this festive season.
