It is a regional Hospital of the Gauteng Department of Health, responsible for providing basic public healthcare services to the people of Mamelodi and the surrounding area. The hospital was established in 1981 as a community health centre and was upgraded to a regional hospital in 2010. It offers a range of services, including a 24 hour emergency department, and has undergone recent upgrades, including the extensions of wards and refurbishment of units such as radiology and casualty units. Mamelodi Regional Hospital has also been declared as the first hospital in Gauteng to meet National Health Insurance (NHI) standards.

As part of Glaucoma Week, Mamelodi Regional Hospital conducted a glaucoma screening for staff members. The screening aimed to raise awareness about glaucoma and encourage early detection to prevent vision loss. Staff members had the opportunity to have their eyes checked and receive information about the importance of regular eye examinations.

Yesterday's TB and HIV Awareness Campaign was a great success at Tshwane Regional Mall.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Tshwane Regional Mall Management for their valuable support in helping us spread awareness and share important information with the community. Your partnership and commitment to community health played an important role in the success of this initiative. Together we are making difference by encouraging education, prevention and early testing for TB and HIV.

Mr Niklas from World Health Organization (WHO) Head quarters in Geneva visited South Africa as part of a learning engagement on the health system. During his visit, he toured Mamelodi Regional Hospital to gain insight into the functioning of Healthcare services at facility level. The hospital management team, Acting District Manager, Clinical HOD's and Hospital Board Chairperson hosted Mr Niklas and Mr Magoro (WHO Head office) and conducted hospital rounds to showcase different departments and services. The visit provided an opportunity to share experiences, discuss Healthcare delivery, and highlight the work being done within SA health system.
