Everyday Health Matters 🌻

Health is often thought of as something managed in doctors’ rooms or hospitals.
In reality, it is shaped every day by how we live, work, rest and recover.

It is influenced by routines, demands, environments, and the support around us.🏡
When daily life becomes overwhelming or unsustainable, health is often affected long before a diagnosis appears.

At KBOT our occupational therapy focuses on how people function in their everyday lives, and how small, practical changes can support health over time.

Human Rights Day is a reminder that dignity is practical.

It is reflected in whether someone can access work.
Whether reasonable accommodation is genuinely considered.
Whether a workplace feels safe, fair and supportive.

Participation is not a privilege. It is part of being human.

Occupational therapy often sits in this space, looking at the barriers that limit participation and working toward realistic, sustainable solutions.

Welcome to the team, Mateenah 👋

We’re really happy to have Mateenah joining KBOT.

She comes with an interest in vocational rehabilitation, WorkWell training, sensory integration training, and experience in neurorehabilitation. She has a calm, thoughtful way of working and is especially interested in how sensory processing, regulation and cognitive demands influence work participation.

Also, she has kittens at home. We feel this is important information 💁🏻‍♀️.

Very glad you’re here, Mateenah 🤍

⬆️⬆️ Early signs that an employee may need additional support

❓How OT Supports Employers:

We assess work capacity, identify functional strengths and limitations, and provide clear guidance on role demands, task adjustments, pacing, and workflow.

Where appropriate, we support sustainable return-to-work planning; where not, we help clarify realistic work capacity. This supports informed decision-making and realistic planning around work ability and sustainability.🌞

Time management struggles are often written off as poor organisation or “not trying hard enough”. ⌛️
But that’s rarely the full story.

When a workday is filled with constant decisions, interruptions, juggling tasks, or unclear expectations, the brain becomes overloaded. When that happens, there is simply less mental space available for planning, remembering, and following through.🧠
Tasks start to take longer. Fatigue sets in sooner. And even familiar work can begin to feel overwhelming.

In occupational therapy, we look beyond what isn’t getting done. We focus on why the day feels so heavy, and how to reduce the mental load so work feels more manageable and sustainable.

Returning to work after illness or injury isn’t just about being “ready”. It’s about finding the right pace and support so work doesn’t set recovery back.

At KBOT, we support safe, realistic return-to-work planning that helps people rebuild confidence and capacity over time.
