Indeed, April is the month of Sexual Assault Awareness, and Everyday is a good day to raise awareness for every child or any human being, regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation, that is sexually violated. Rest assured that I support survivors of sexual assault in my capacity as a psychiatrist. As a community of mental health professionals we respect their resilience, hear their tales, trust them, and, with consent, amplify their voices.

If we work together, we can make the world a place where everyone is heard, respected, and feels protected. Let’s end the stigma, initiate dialogue, and promote long-term change. And strive for a time when sexual assault is not accepted and survivors receive the justice and treatment they deserve
