Aerial Yoga

Aerial Yoga Aerial Yoga® is a total mind and body workout. We encourage people to stretch both their body and their mind. Stretch your body and your mind! Who can do this?

Combining aspects of Yoga, Pilates, Aerial Arts and Strength Training, Aerial Yoga is a total mind and body workout for those who want to combine fitness with FUN. Anyone who wants to spice up their fitness routine or turn their world upside down! Look at the world from a different perspective. For men and women. There is no special experience needed to take this class, all are welcome. Keep in mind that you will build strength quickly with this practice, if at first you do not succeed, try again. Private and small group sessions can be accommodated to any fitness level. If you have any medical issue that prevents you from inverting (glaucoma, heart condition, sinus problems, high blood pressure etc) this may not be for you. If you have an injury or medical condition, check with your doctor first. What to wear / What not to wear:

For comfort on the sling, you should wear form-fitting clothing that covers your underarms and knees, no shoes required. Please don’t wear any jewelry, no belts, no sharp finger or toenails, and no hand lotion. For hygiene purposes we ask that you bring your own yoga mat. We do have spare for first time students. As with your regular practice, it is advised to not have a heavy meal at least 2 hours prior to class. Try to hydrate well before class as drinking during class and then inverting may be uncomfortable. Schedule/Rates/ Bookings:

It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to temporarily close the studio - with immediate effect - from Monday 23rd March 2020. This is in light of continued developments with the Coronavirus and the increasing infection rate in Gauteng.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This has been an incredibly difficult decision but we know that this is the best thing to do. We only wish to protect you and your loved ones.
⠀⠀⠀⠀
The studio will currently remain open for private and semi-private classes.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We will also switch over to online classes as soon as possible. (Our stretch class will be livestreamed this evening)

Upward Bow (Wheel) (Urdhva Dhanurasana) with the Aerial Yoga hammock!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Wheel is a great pose to try with the assistance of the Aerial Yoga hammock for a number of reasons. Some of the issues that tend to come up that prevent people from doing wheel are:
🔅Poor shoulder mobility & flexibility
🔅Poor body strength
🔅Poor back mobility & flexibility
🔅Fear
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
We love the Aerial Yoga hammock because it can help us achieve different variations of wheel, combat most of the afore-mentioned problem areas and also help to improve them over time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
1️⃣ You can use the hammock to support your back. This helps us learn to trust our bodies and that we can bend backwards (with varying degrees). It also helps if you struggle with the strength to push into your arms (off the floor) with the traditional variation.
2️⃣ You can wrap your wrists and support yourself with your hands. With this variation you can work the muscles of the upper back and not have to worry about whether you can push up off the floor.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
❗️Remembeer to bring awareness to your legs and how they are utilized.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Sometimes deciding what you are looking to gain from your physical practice will help you decide how you want to utilize your hammock and this can differ from day to day.
