Interdigital & plantar tinea pedis with hyperkeratosis is a type of fungal infection (athlete’s foot) that affects both between the toes (interdigital) and the soles of the feet (plantar), along with thickened, hardened skin (hyperkeratosis).
What it looks like:
- Itching, peeling, or cracking skin between the toes
- Dry, thick, scaly skin on the soles (often in a “moccasin” pattern)
- Sometimes redness, burning, or mild odour
How it’s treated:
Treatment usually involves professional debridement (safe removal of thickened skin), topical antifungal medication, and in more stubborn cases, oral antifungals. Ongoing care includes keeping feet dry, improving footwear hygiene, and preventing reinfection.
Early treatment helps prevent spreading, cracking, and secondary infections.
