JOIN OUR JHB SUPPORT GROUP MEETING!
Our johannesburg support meetings are growing in attendance and so are our hybrid members. Just as a reminder, this coming Tuesday 8th of August, we will be at Olive Branch Therapy Centre for our weekly dose of exercise, fun, sharing, uplifting and supporting each other!

Topic for discussion this week with Simone, our social worker: Stages of Grief.

At our last few sessions, it became very apparent that a deeper understanding of the stages of grief need to be explored. Over the next few weeks we will cover all the stages individually, this week we will discuss depression.

The two hour session will be a combination of social/support time as well as an hour of activity. We are inviting all stroke survivors and their family members or carers to join our Jhb stroke support group meeting.

Knowing the signs of an oncoming stroke can help you take action and receive the care you need.

Look out for:
- Numbness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg
- Difficulty seeing in one or both eyes
- Feeling confused and unable to speak or understand speech
- A sudden, severe headache
- Dizziness and lack of coordination

Contact emergency services immediately if you experience these symptoms.

Meet the team!
Nica is currently completing her Masters degree specialising in neurology, but believes the broadness of OT is what makes us unique and able to view each patient as a whole person.
She is passionate about engaging with patients in their home language, and emphasises the importance of treating a patient within the context of their own culture.
Nica is best known by her colleagues and friends as vibrant and energetic, but at only 155cm tall, you’re more likely to hear her before you see her 😂

Devan Kerr

Devan completed his BSc Sport Science degree in 2020 at the University of Pretoria followed by his BHSc Biokinetics Honours degree at the University of Witwatersrand in 2021, where he graduated with distinction.

Devan is currently completing his internship at Adjustability in Rivonia and has a special interest in neurological, chronic disease and orthopaedic rehabilitation.
