The End of Chapter 2, and the Beginning of Chapter 3 ✨🙏🏾
When we opened our doors in Greenside in 2018, we dreamed of creating a space rooted in accessibility, inclusivity, and true healing. That dream became The Nest Space, a home for community, for rest, and for remembering that wellness belongs to us all.
When the pandemic forced us to close our Greenside doors, we were heartbroken. But from that ending came a new beginning. In that stillness, we planted a seed through our yoga teacher training school, which began online and later evolved into a hybrid model. Since then, we’ve had the honour of training nearly 100 yogis of colour across South Africa and beyond.
When the world reopened, we found our new home in Parktown North. For the past three years, this space has carried our dreams, our community, and our hope to rebuild what was lost. From the start, The Nest was never meant to be only a yoga studio. Our vision included a vegan café and a zero waste store alongside our classes, a place where wellness, sustainability, and community could meet. Though that full vision could not yet come to life in our new home, it remained the heartbeat of what we were building.
A few months ago, our landlord placed the building on the market. We fought hard to secure it, exercising our Right of First Refusal and gathering support within days. We raised a significant portion, but not enough to meet the offer in full.
The property has since been sold, and as our lease ends, we know this timing is no coincidence. It is alignment ✨ a quiet confirmation that this chapter was always meant to close exactly as it’s unfolding.
This is not a loss, but a moment of surrender. A reminder that sometimes what we build is meant to evolve beyond walls.
The Nest will continue to live through our teachers, our students, and the ever-growing community of yogis who carry this mission forward. We are still teaching, still showing up, still believing in accessible, mindful wellness for all.
So this is not goodbye. It is thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And It is see you soon.
With love deep gratitude and pride,
Banesa and Dr Anesu 🤍
