We all have "baggage" in the form of our past experiences. Trauma, loss, grief etc- but these do not define who you become. So what if you are a little flawed? Remember, even broken crayons still colour and thus you will also soldier on and be your best version ever.v

Life will always throw you challenges that seem insurmountable. In all you do stay positive. Reach deep inside and find a strength you never knew existed. You are stronger than you could ever imagine.

My story isn't over

Often times we feel broken or damaged by our life experiences. We think that we are no longer worthy of happiness, success or love. But STOP...remember you can choose to let your past either hold you back or build you and move you forward. What choice will you make?

My story isn't over...

Depression is a serious mental illness that presents itself in many forms. Not everyone who is depressed "looks" depressed. Remember a smile can hide a lot of pain, sadness, self-doubt...

Sometimes people say they are okay for your benefit because they don't want to "be a bother" or they don't know how to effectively communicate that they are not okay.

Be available...be there for them when they are ready to talk. Don't tell them to "snap out of it" but rather reassure them on your love and support for them. Let them know that you are available and you care.

My story isn't over.

Words to remember everyday. This is your mantra. It is not easy to pull yourself out of that dark place, in fact it is your default setting. It is much harder to be positive when all you have known is negativity and despair. Train your brain everyday so that it becomes easier to get rid of those negative thoughts. Be mindful of what you are feeling and why. With practice the time between low mood and being okay will decrease. Talk to someone or write down what you are going through. Distract yourself from those negative self harming thoughts. That helps to centre you and you can focus on getting better.

My story is not over

We all know a loved one who succumbed to depression. They gave into the darkness because they thought they are alone. Don't judge those who suffer with mental illness. Be there for them. Love them. Make them feel needed. Show them that the world is better with them in it.

We love you. We need you.

"My story is not over"

Never doubt yourself. You have the strength within you. It is in our most trying times that we find out how strong we are. Don't give in to despair. Reach inside, find that strength. Stand up, be brave. This is not the end. Your journey is just beginning.

They love you. They need you.
You matter.

'tover

This is so true. Only those who have been there fully understand. They constantly mask their true pain from others, putting on a smile just so that those around them don't suffer. But it's not easy to be "okay" all the time. It takes it's toll- mentally. Against their best efforts it does affect those around them. They are moody, the withdraw, they lash out- as a result they are misunderstood.
Feeling such an intense pain that it seems it will never go away...a pain that can't be explained. They feel worthless and feel the only way out is to no longer exist. This is the only solution they can see in order to spare those they love.

Remember your story isn't over. Stay strong..keep going against all odds. Talk to someone (preferably a trained therapist).
The road to recovery is not easy. They need your support, not your judgement.

"My story isn't over"

Remember these words when all seems lost. These words are an affirmation of hope for those who are depressed, self-harm or end their life. Don't forget that you are important to those around you. They need you, they love you. Find the strength to be strong for them and yourself. If you feel at the end of your rope reach out to a therapist for help.

Your sentence is not over, and your life is the sentence. Keep going on this journey. Your life matters.
