Your Physiotherapy questions answered!
We get asked a lot of great questions about physiotherapy, so we thought we’d answer some of the most common ones right here!
✅ 1. What does a physiotherapy session involve?
Your first session typically includes an assessment of your condition, followed by a personalised treatment plan. We may use hands-on techniques, stretches, strengthening exercises, electrotherapy or other therapies to help you heal.
✅ 2. How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions depends on your condition, progress and goals. Some people feel better after just a few sessions, while others may need ongoing treatment for a while.
✅ 3. Does physiotherapy hurt?
Physiotherapy should never be painful. We may ask you to push through some discomfort to improve mobility or strength, but we always work within your pain tolerance and comfort level.
✅ 4. Can physiotherapy help with chronic pain?
Yes! Physiotherapy can be incredibly effective in managing chronic conditions like arthritis, sciatica, or fibromyalgia. We focus on improving movement patterns and reducing pain through tailored exercises and techniques.
✅ 5. Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?
No! You can book an appointment directly with us. All medical aids pay us directly.
✅ 6. What should I wear to my appointment?
Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. For example, loose-fitting clothes or athletic wear are perfect for stretches and exercises.
