Dear tape measure, thanks for being with us for so many births. Most were such happy moments where you enjoyed laughter with us. But we also had wobblies which none of us enjoyed. You measured all those little heads and bodies, correctly every time. Now we will put you to rest. We will give you a special place to hang where you can supervise the new green tape doing its thing

The effect of late pregnancy consumption of date fruit on labour and delivery.
A study done at Jordan university of Science and Technology compared 69 women eating 6 date fruits per day for 4 weeks prior to their estimated date of delivery compared to 45 women who consumed none. The women who consume date fruit had significantly higher mean cervical dilatation upon admission compared with the non-date fruit consumer and significantly higher proportion of intact membranes.
Spontaneous labour occurred in 96% of those who consumed dates.
