BUNNY LINES

🐰It’s fascinating how bunny lines add character to our expressions! And who knew that a little dose of Botulinum toxin could be the bunny’s way of hopping away?

🐰”Bunny lines” is a term used to describe little scrunchy lines one gets on the sides of the nose when smiling.

🐰They are caused by contraction of a muscle called Nasalis .There is also some contribution from the Levator Labii Superioris Alaeque Nasi muscle which is one of our smile muscles.

🐰Bunny lines can be part of a patient’s unique facial expression. These are happy lines that can become etched on our faces with time. It’s like our faces are writing a lighthearted autobiography—one smile at a time. Of course there is nothing wrong with them ! They are a sign of a life of joy and laughter.

🐰But bunny lines can become more prominent after repetitive botulinum toxin treatment to nearby muscles. When adjacent muscle groups are relaxed with toxin the nasalis muscle overcompensates and becomes even stronger and more active in comparison.

🐰Bunny lines are cute and endearing when smiling, but not so nice if etched permanently on the nose. In fact they can appear angry or menacing or show distaste.

🐰It’s good to know that bunny lines, the whimsical footprints of laughter on our noses,can be sent hopping with a small dose of Botulinum Toxin if they get too busy!
