Tuberculosis (TB) physiotherapy focuses on improving lung function, clearing secretions, and restoring physical mobility through tailored exercise, breathing techniques, and posture correction. It is crucial for managing respiratory symptoms (e.g., in pulmonary TB) and addressing mobility or musculoskeletal complications from spinal/extrapulmonary TB.

Key Physiotherapy Interventions:
Respiratory Management: Techniques like percussion (rhythmic clapping on the chest), postural drainage, and effective cough training help mobilize and remove secretions from the airways.
Breathing Exercises: Deep breathing exercises, thoracic expansion exercises, and incentive spirometry are used to increase lung volumes and oxygenation.
Physical Rehabilitation: Programs include aerobic exercise, muscle-strengthening exercises, and gait/balance training to combat fatigue and restore function.
Pain Relief & Mobility: For musculoskeletal complications, especially spinal TB, physiotherapy uses gentle mobilization and exercises to improve range of motion and reduce pain 🙌🏻 🫁

Happy Human Rights Day 🇿🇦

21/03/2026

Tomorrow is World Down Syndrome Day. And tonight, we want to share something important.

Loneliness is one of the biggest challenges facing people with Down syndrome. Not sometimes. For many people — every single day.

People have told us what loneliness feels like. Like a void. Like emptiness. Like being invisible. Like crying in the depth of your heart.

This is not okay. And it is not inevitable.

We know what every person needs to feel connected and to belong:

💙 Real inclusion — not just being present, but truly taking part.

💛 Welcoming spaces — where every person is valued, invited, and safe.

💙 Meaningful relationships — real friendships, real love, real connection.

These are not big asks. They are basic human needs. And together, we have the power to make them a reality for every person with Down syndrome.

Tomorrow, speak up. Share our posts. Wear your socks. Start a conversation. Take action.

Because no one should have to feel lonely. Not on World Down Syndrome Day. Not any day.

Share this post tonight and help us reach as many people as possible tomorrow. 💛

💙 By donating to or raising money for World Down Syndrome Day, you support the work of organisations like Down Syndrome International and our Network members, as we strive to create a more inclusive society for people with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities worldwide. Together Against Loneliness

Why do we need to talk about loneliness?
Everyone feels lonely sometimes. But for many people with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities, loneliness is a more common and painful experience.

Their families can feel lonely too, and feel cut off from support.

Loneliness can feel like different things:
– Not having a group of friends or a community to belong to.
– Not having a close, special person to share your feelings with.

Have a lovely weekend 🙌🏻

Most of our weariness comes not from years, but from stillness.

When you move, your heart hums, your muscles remember their strength, your joints bend with ease, and your body’s rhythm stays alive. When movement fades, even the simplest daily tasks feel heavy. Energy slips through your fingers, and independence quietly drifts away.

The remedy is simple....
Keep moving.
