TEENAGE PREGNANCY PREVENTION AWARENESS CAMPAIGN : MERITI SECONDARY SCHOOL

Beyond the Change Foundation, in strategic alliance with key stakeholders—including the Adopt-a-School Foundation, the Department of Health, the Department of Social Development, and the South African Police Service (SAPS), VYG, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit proudly announces the outstanding achievement of the Teenage Pregnancy Prevention Awareness Campaign entitled “My Future, My Choice: Empowering Teenagers to Make Informed Decisions About Their Sexual Health and Well‑being.”

The campaign was executed at Meriti Secondary School, where Grade 8 and Grade 9 learners participated in an extensive four‑hour programme meticulously designed to furnish adolescents with essential knowledge, life‑skills competencies, and psychosocial support aimed at preventing early pregnancies and fostering responsible decision‑making regarding their sexual health. The initiative encompassed a series of structured sessions that addressed health education, legal and safety awareness, peer mentorship, and comprehensive support mechanisms, all delivered by expert facilitators from the partnering organisations.

This collaborative endeavour underscores the unified commitment of Key stakeholders to cultivate a safe, informed, and empowered youth community. The campaign has made a significant contribution toward reducing teenage pregnancy rates and enhancing the holistic well‑being of learners at Meriti Secondary School, thereby advancing the broader objectives of adolescent health and social development within the community.

EMPOWERING THE FUTURE: SUCCESSFUL SUBSTANCE AND DRUG ABUSE AWARENESS CAMPAIGN AT HOËR TEGNIES SKOOL

The Last Hope Initiative, in partnership with Khulisa Social Solutions, Centre of Hope for the Hopeless, and His-Vision organizations, Conducted an impactful Substance and Drug Abuse Awareness Campaign Led by the "Last Hope Initiative " at Hoër Tegnies Skool on 10 April 2026. The initiative, a collaboration between Beyond The Change Foundation and Barbie Chronicles, aimed to combat substance abuse through education and awareness, targeting the youth with engaging and informative sessions.

Alostro (Alozation), a personal recovery journey survivor, took the forefront, sharing authentic and powerful storytelling to shatter the glamorization of drugs and reveal their true consequences. The program empowered students to resist peer pressure, make informed choices, and choose a healthier path.

This successful campaign sparked conversation, challenged harmful perceptions, and equipped young people with the knowledge to navigate the challenges of substance abuse, marking a significant milestone in the pursuit of a safer, healthier community.
