Why Bread of Life Was Founded

Bread of Life Healing Ministry was born out of a story of grace and transformation.

For 11 years, our founder Dorjin Verwey battled substance addiction, feeling the weight of hopelessness and brokenness. But by God’s mercy, she found freedom — and has now celebrated 20 years of sobriety. 🙌

In 2012, with a heart full of gratitude and a calling from God, she founded Bread of Life Healing Ministry. Her vision was clear:
✨ To create a safe, faith-based space where others can find the same healing she experienced.
✨ To walk with those battling addiction and remind them they are not alone.
✨ To train up leaders in recovery who will carry hope into God’s kingdom.

What began as her testimony has grown into a ministry of restoration, helping countless men and women discover that healing is possible, and life can be made new. 🕊️

This morning, Kotie Batt, one of our Christian counsellors at Bread of Life, shares a powerful reminder from 2 Timothy 2:19:

“Nevertheless, the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: The Lord knows those who are His, and let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”

What comfort to know that God truly knows His children — their struggles, weaknesses, and victories. 🙌 But this verse also reminds us of our responsibility: to walk closely with Him and turn away from what pulls us from His love.
