On 12 March, we had the privilege of spending time at Lenmed Ethekweni Hospital in KZN in support of World Kidney Day.

In collaboration with the Organ Donor Foundation of SA, Renal Care Holdings, and the dedicated Lenmed Private Hospitals Transplant Coordinators, alongside Tracey Gibbs, Tissue Coordinator for Vitanova Tissue Bank, we raised awareness around organ and tissue donation while connecting with individuals passionate about making a difference.

We are truly grateful for every conversation, every shared moment, and everyone who chose to be part of something life-changing.

On Thursday, 12 March 2026, Elize Scheepers, donor coordinator from Vitanova Tissue Bank, celebrated World Kidney Day in partnership with Organ Donor Foundation of SA at Universitas Hospital, Bloemfontein.

By donating tissue such as corneas, heart valves, skin, and long bones, one donor can restore sight, repair damaged tissue, and improve mobility.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to learn more and register as tissue donors.

On 10 February 2026, Vitanova Human Tissue Bank had the privilege of presenting an information session at Westerford High School to Grade 8 to 12 learners.

During the session, 50 students learned more about organ and tissue donation, what it means to be a donor, and how one donor can change and improve many lives.

This opportunity was especially meaningful. The invitation came from one of the school’s teachers whose late father, Mr Grant Hendriksz, was a tissue donor. It was an honour to share his legacy and show learners how one person’s decision can make a lasting difference.

Thank you to Westerford High School, the teacher who invited us, and the learners who participated so enthusiastically in the discussion.

Together we continue to create awareness and inspire future lifesavers.

On 5 March 2026, the team from Vitanova Tissue Bank had the privilege of visiting Manenberg Secondary School in Cape Town.

During our visit, we handed over 44 pairs of school shoes to learners in need. Seeing the smiles and appreciation from the students was truly heartwarming.

We also had the opportunity to speak to approximately 400 learners and staff members, sharing more about tissue donation and how one donor has the power to transform many lives.

Moments like these remind us that awareness, compassion, and community support can make a real difference.

A heartfelt thank you to Manenberg Secondary School for the warm welcome and for giving us the opportunity to share a message of hope and generosity.
