THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU - to all my patients, friends, family, husband (๐Ÿคญ) and colleagues that have been so helpful, supportive, kind and encouraging through all of the changes & new adventures โœจ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿค

Minette & I have worked together before & are both so excited to finally have opened up this exciting business. We are two foodies with a nutrition dream & want to HELP YOU achieve your health goals through food.

I am personally on a mission to help people realise that nutrition really isnโ€™t that complicated. There is a lot of misinformation and confusion out there that causes people a great deal of stress when it comes to food. I want to help you understand that โ€œall foods can be includedโ€ and that there really isnโ€™t a need to feel like you are on a diet to be healthy.

I really hope to meet you soon, see you (again) soon and get to cross paths with you in the near future.

2022 work year done - THANK YOU ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผโœจ

What a year it has been. Iโ€™m so grateful for all of you - Iโ€™m really lucky to have clients, followers, colleagues and friends that have supported me flat out with every event, work adventure, race and challenge this year. Thank you.

Have a wonderful festive season & holiday with those closest to you. My two cents for the holiday:
If youโ€™ve made some healthy changes to your lifestyle - Donโ€™t throw away the easy principles and healthy habits while on holiday.
Remember โ˜๐Ÿผ
* there should be less stress while on holiday (helps with overall health, eating habits etc)
* Sleep quality and duration should be better
* more time to put effort into food (you donโ€™t need to grab something in 3 minutes between meetings. Yessss there might be more eating out and Christmas. But who cares - you arenโ€™t eating out for breakfast, lunch and supper for 3 weeks straight).
* Physical activity - get. moving. Donโ€™t care what you do - just move your body. There is more time for it.
All of this will have such a positive impact on your health and how you feel over the festive season โœŒ๐Ÿผ

Load shedding friendly too!

For some reason - I LOOOOOOVE a bowl. I think because it just tends to look like more food in a bowl, more exciting and more colourful than on a boring and vanilla plate.

There are so many options which is great.
You can make a starch for the week but eat a different bowl every day because you changed the protein or veggies.

Today - I didnโ€™t have leftovers. So I got barley, broccoli, cauliflower, tuna, cottage cheese, Mayo, rocket. Threw it all together and had a delicious lunch (Ps. I ordered those things on woolies dash. Soooo I didnโ€™t even have to leave the office).

Try choose your PROTEIN first:
๐ŸŸ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ—๐Ÿฅš๐Ÿณ๐Ÿฅฉ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿง†๐Ÿค๐Ÿซ˜

Choose a whole grain starch:

A healthy fat:

Lots of salad & veg. Doesnโ€™t matter of its raw or steamed. Just make sure that bowl is FILLED with a variety.

General guideline is that you should be drinking about 250ml of water per 10kgs body weight.

I.e. if you weigh 60kgs = 1.5 litres of water per day.

Ps. That doesnโ€™t include when youโ€™re exercising ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜ฅ you need to drink MORE when exercising. ๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿฅต

Top tip ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ before you touch your morning cup of coffee - try drink a glass of water FIRST!
With every cup of coffee, try make sure youโ€™re drinking some water too.

Two things (the second is most NB - so read the whole thing ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

๐ŸงI feel like this is a PSA to everyone out there. PLEASE when it comes to your health - trust a professional. I canโ€™t tell you how often the patients/clients that end up with me have tried what the influencer / google search / FAD diet has suggested but it hasnโ€™t been SUSTAINABLE. The biggest and most important thing when it comes to your lifestyle changes (diet, exercise, stress management, sleeping) is that the changes need. To. Be. Sustainable. Otherwise it will all feel too restrictive and lead to an โ€œall fall downโ€. There is a lot of misinformation out there - be careful what information you decide to use and believe. There are lots of great dietitians out there that are qualified to give you the correct information - and most of us wonโ€™t stop you from having the yummy nice things. I promise we like them more than you probably do ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿง๐Ÿซ๐Ÿฅจ๐Ÿฅ

๐Ÿคธ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธThe other thing I really wanted to share was SO well put by another dietitian - .dt ๐Ÿ’œ
I really LOVE my job. A lot. A lot of the time (probably more than anything) is about the relationships and connections with the people I am lucky enough to try and help. Sometimes we donโ€™t even talk about the food side of things - because there is so much other stuff going on (which results in the food stuff). But man - I love these connections. Even the tough ones that sometimes make it difficult and challenging ๐Ÿ™ˆI just feel very lucky to be able to work with so many different people - helping them when theyโ€™re getting married, having children, doing races, sports teams, starting to enjoy exercise for the first time, traumas ๐Ÿ’”, happy times, sad times, dark times... Itโ€™s really special & makes my job so fulfilling.

Mini MAD weekend. A practice for the real thingโ€ฆ

In October we will be running โ€œacross SA for SAโ€ - raising funds for the MAD (Make A Difference) leadership foundation.

This weekend was a practice run - two days of camping, running, (no) sleeping, running, eating to get used to how it all will work in October when we run from
Johannesburg to Cape Town. I managed 71kms over the two shifts that I did (01:00-8:00 & 21:00-04;00 ๐Ÿ˜ณ ๐Ÿฅฑ ๐Ÿคฏ). Itโ€™s such a special thing to share this with people you love and care about. There were some missing people this weekend - but itโ€™s going to be even more of an adventure when they join in October!

Iโ€™m very excited for it & would love to share this journey with you - the struggles and the highlights. Iโ€™ll tell you - it ainโ€™t easy throwing your routine upside down, trying to get in sleep and food and running at very strange hours ๐Ÿ˜‚ Iโ€™ll keep you posted on how itโ€™s goingโ€ฆ
