World Mental Health Day.

We are emotionall and physical beings.

From a physio perspective injuries and illness often take their toll. There is always a mental health component to recovery.

Often when we struggle with mental health, depression, anxiety, overwhelm and burnout physical problems also manifest.

It Is often not one or the other but components of both.

As World Mental Health Day 2025 approaches, let’s pause and reflect. 💚

Mental health isn’t just a conversation for one day — it’s a daily reality for millions. It’s the quiet battles, the invisible weight, the strength it takes to simply keep going. This year’s theme is “Mental Health is a Universal Human Right” a powerful reminder that care, compassion, and support should never be a privilege.

Whether you’re thriving, surviving, or somewhere in between, your story matters. Your feelings are valid.

Let’s normalize:

• Checking in on friends without needing a reason
• Saying “I’m not okay” without shame

Let’s make this October 10th not just a day of awareness, but a spark for change. 💚

Last week Sunday 21 September, marked World Alzheimers Day. It often seems like there is not a lot you can do for Alzheimer’s and dementia.
This podcast I found useful with some practical tips to help prevent it. They use a pnemonic, NEURO, to share their insight.

As we round up Physio Week 2025, I hope you've had time to reflect on the impact Physio has on the lives of the people we treat every day.

The focus this year has been healthy ageing and falls prevention.

Every yearat 684000 peope die from a fall which is often related to a hip fracture. Prevention starts whenn you are younger by being physically active. And if you are inder and you are thinking it mogut be too late, then the best time to start is now.

🏋️ Reflecting on National Physiotherapy Week – Healthy Ageing 🏋️

Today I ran the Spirit of Flight 10km in Pretoria and broke 60 minutes – a huge milestone for me! 🎉.

This is not my fastest 10km time ot PB for the race. However a year ago I couldn’t even run this race. Burnout, plantar fasciopathy and overtraining had forced me to stop. I had traded running for walking, CrossFit and Kettlebells. Slowly, my foot healed and my love for running returned.

This past year has taught me:
✅ Recovery takes patience – mental as much as physical.
✅ Small goals (like parkrun challenges) keep you moving forward.
✅ Friends & coffee runs matter as much as training.
✅ Having other forms of exercise makes the comeback possible.

Peter Attia talks about healthspan vs lifespan – being as healthy as possible for as long as possible. For me, that’s what running, CrossFit and recovery are all about.

If you’re injured or struggling, don’t give up. Seek help, set new goals, and keep moving. 💪

Our Story

Francis and Terry Rogan come from a medical family, so it was hardly a surprise when both turned to careers in the health-care profession.

Within physiotherapy, their personal interests differ. Francis and Terry's skills and experience cover a wide range of therapy specialties and they share this knowledge with each other to benefit their patients.

The team consists of physiotherapists Terry and Francis Rogan as well as Zelda More, who handles appointment bookings and administration.

The physiotherapy practice is in the center of Sandton. They manage sports injuries, back and neck pain, headaches, peripheral joints- knee, shoulder, ankle, hip etc.
