Understanding Pelvic Pain
🔎 What It Is
Pelvic pain is discomfort in the lower abdomen or pelvis. It can be short-term or chronic, and because it has many possible causes, it often requires careful evaluation.
🌿 Common Causes
Gynaecological: endometriosis, ovarian cysts, fibroids, menstrual cramps
Urological: urinary tract infections, bladder disorders
Gastrointestinal: irritable bowel syndrome, constipation
Musculoskeletal: pelvic floor dysfunction, muscle strain
Other: nerve-related pain, post-surgical pain
🧩 Symptoms
Dull or sharp pain in the pelvic region
Pain during urination, bowel movements, or sexual activity
Persistent pressure or aching
May be accompanied by bloating, fatigue, or back pain
💡 Why It Matters
Pelvic pain can affect quality of life, relationships, and emotional well-being. Raising awareness helps encourage people to seek medical evaluation rather than normalize chronic pain.
