On Thursday, 19 February 2026, the French South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted its Members Only Padel Tournament at Africa Padel Camps Bay in Cape Town.

The Americano-style tournament set a competitive tone from the first serve. Players rotated partners and opponents, earning points as individuals while building rapport across the FSACCI network. The format kept the pace high and the scoreboard tight, with every game carrying weight.

Member News | Immersive exhibitions to bring Southern African histories to life

The French Institute of South Africa, a member of the French South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will present Futures_Past: Amplifying Memory with Immersive Technologies, a regional initiative that uses digital tools to interpret archives.

The institute runs the project with Electric South and partner institutions in South Africa, Lesotho and Malawi. The Embassy of France in South Africa and the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs support the programme.

Analyses | Werksmans - Unpacking Proposed Changes to the BBBEE Generic Codes

The Codes set out the methodology for calculating a firm's BBBEE rating. Significant changes have been proposed to cater for the proposed new Transformation Fund and changes to the BBBEE procurement scorecard. While not yet binding and still open for public comment, the proposed changes indicate Government policy and have important potential implications for business in South Africa.

On 29 January 2026, proposed changes to the Codes were published for public comment by the Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition in the Government Gazette. A minimum 60 day period is required for public comment in terms of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act.

Member News | Air Liquide, Wits University & LSF launch ZAR100m initiative to empower South Africa’s Hydrogen research and localisation

Air Liquide South Africa, the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits University) and the Localisation Support Fund (LSF) today announced the official launch of the Wits – South Africa Hydrogen Localisation Initiative (Wits-SAHLI).

This ZAR100 million initiative, funded by Air Liquide, is dedicated to building the research capacity and local expertise required to contribute to South Africa’s just energy transition towards a low-carbon hydrogen economy.

EU–Namibia Business Forum 2026: Companies Invited to Register Interest by 6 March

The EU–Namibia Business Forum will take place in Windhoek from 11 to 13 May 2026. The event will focus on Green Industrialisation, Critical Raw Materials, Automotive Manufacturing, Cultural and Creative Industries, and Agribusiness.

The Forum runs alongside the Africa Forward Summit, organised by France and Kenya in Nairobi on 11 and 12 May 2026. Companies may consider participating in both events at different levels.
