Every day is a school day, even for us! We completed the first phase of an exciting pilot project at the end of last year and we learned so much about how we can improve, grow and support more children with disabilities. Working with three ECD centres in Dududu, Murchison and Betania, we found ways to grow and expand Siyakwazi’s Inclusion programme outside of our usual catchment areas of KwaNzimakwe and KwaXolo.

Remotely mentoring ECD practitioners within other parts of Ugu and helping them to independently identify, teach and nurture children with disabilities is a huge milestone for Siyakwazi. We’re calling these ECD practitioners ‘Inclusion Champions’, and that’s exactly what they are 💪🏆! Thank you for partnering with Siyakwazi on a new journey.

Happy World Read Aloud Day! 📚 . The best way to celebrate this day is to read aloud to someone! Reading aloud is one of the best ways to interact and teach your kiddies. During this time, a number of areas improve such as their vocabulary, their expressive language skills, word recognition skills, and let’s not forget their CONFIDENCE💃. Remember how nerve wrecking it was for some of us to read in class… but if you spend 10 minutes listening to your child read aloud- it builds their confidence, and reduces their fears of reading with others or to others. ❤️ Ready to pick up a book today? 📖
