✨ On Air with 5FM ✨

I loved being part of today’s conversation on 5 Lunch with - A big thank you to the team for hosting me to chat about the importance of touch (a type of non-verbal communicatin) in human connection, especially in honour of International Hug Day 🤍

We are relational beings - patterns of safe connection play a powerful role in emotional regulation, stress reduction, and building emotional wellbeing — something we don’t talk about nearly enough.

I’m not the biggest fan of a 10 tips guide to “the solution”, that said I do think we say sorry and apologise as a generic social que. A watered down, often apologising for other peoples stuff or things out of our control. Owning your share and taking reaponsibility is important, but blanket apologising - um not so much!

So here are some guides for what to say instead of “I’m sorry …”. Try out 1 or 3 or 5, rebel against the blanket sorry!

A lovely morning spent training! I had a group of 6 ladies, we delved into stressors and stress, the brain and nervous system, anger and anxiety … and got into some practical skills in expanding the toolbox on what to do about stress. We looked at how to be assertive and practiced some assertiveness skills, how to identify needs and to make these visible in our relationships and contexts, the effect of multitasking and so much more!

Thank you to the group members for bringing vulnerability and an eagerness to learn! I have left energised and fulfilled hearing that this was valuable and productive for all who attended.

What a lovely venue, thank you Roots, The Studio, Pennington! Such a stunning venue for a workshop!
