We have been very privileged to have Semona Diener come to us these past 2 Mondays and doing some lovely Expressive Art Sessions.
Semona is an amazing local Occupational Therapist helping everyone grow in all aspects.
Come and join us every Monday from 10:00 - 11:30 in the dining room at Berg-n-See.
We also received this lovely message from one of our residents after she attended these sessions.
And then… in infant school, we discovered the wonder of reading and writing — and so much more about our amazing world than Mum and Dad ever had time to teach us. Best of all, we learned songs — so many songs! We sang together, played musical instruments, became actors on school stages, and danced until we tumbled over, dizzy with joy.
Our little bodies grew stronger in PT lessons and on the junior sports fields. And on Fridays, our teacher let us slow down, breathe, and wander into secret worlds of imagination and fantasy. We painted and drew with colours so bright they carried us beyond the rainbow. We sculpted weird and wonderful creatures from soft plasticine and squidgy play dough — shaping anything our dodgy little fingers could dream up.
Do you remember our Nature Study Table? Each week we’d bring in treasures we’d found: a forgotten spider’s web, a dead beetle, a squashed frog, a hollow bird’s egg, acorns, catkin tassels, leaves — tiny and huge — and feathers we’d float down onto the teacher’s head, giggling all the while.
And then, we grew older. We kept learning more incredible things — but life got busier, noisier. Until one day, we grew tired, and took a break called retirement… only to discover something magical:
We could begin again.
We could uncover the gifts we’d hidden away, rediscover our childhood wonder, and once again feel the joy of creativity — the energy, the fantasy, the delight in simply making, sharing, and being.
🌻 Thank you, Semona — clay was such fun! 💕
