On Monday, 4 March 2024, she was involved in a motorcycle accident. She was hit by a Nissan Bakkie on her way to hockey practice at the school. Carlin Pienaar was, on her scooter, on her way to hockey practice when she was hit by a Nissan Bakkie. She was crossing the robot when the bakkie turned right in front of her, hitting her on her right side. With the impact she was thrown into the air after where she landed on the other side of the Bakkie on the tar road. Footage of the incident has made it clear that Carlin was not at fault and that it is only by grace that she is alive. Her right foot has multiple fractures and need reconstruction surgery. The necessary plates and screws will be implanted in her foot. Her left leg needed stitches. She has “tar burns” all over her body and is experiencing intense pain. The accident has changed her and her family’s lives and this will bring massive financial implications. Her family has no medical cover. I, as a sports fanatic, have started this project to assist Carlin financially. I want Carlin to have the best options available to her in the rehabilitation process for her foot, giving her the chance to get back onto the sport fields, where she has the talent to pursue her dreams. Donations will go towards the following:
• Traveling cost for her family to the hospital to visit her. (140km a day)
• Financial help for medical expenses to aid with the rehabilitation process such as the intense physiotherapy she will need.
• Doctor’s costs.
• Future rehabilitation costs. I have created this group to keep everybody updated about Carlin’s condition, fundraising campaigns and any general information regarding Carlin. I would like to ask the members not to post updates about her condition here as all updates first gets approved by her family.
