Fluoroscopy is a cutting-edge imaging technique that allows our radiologists to view your body in real time. Unlike standard X-rays, fluoroscopy shows movement, making it an essential tool for:

-Guiding diagnostic and minimally invasive procedures
-Observing the digestive tract, joints, and other moving organs
-Ensuring accuracy and safety during interventions

At Gebs Radiology, our advanced fluoroscopy technology helps doctors make precise diagnoses and provide the best care for our patients. Experience the clarity of real-time imaging and the confidence of expert radiology care.

We are proud to share our recent participation at the 21st Biennial Congress of the South African Society of Nuclear Medicine (SASNM) held in Durban, where Gebs Radiology & Nuclear Medicine had the honour of contributing to this prestigious event. This bi-annual gathering offers an invaluable platform to connect with colleagues, exchange knowledge, and reflect on the growth within the Nuclear Medicine field.

We were especially proud to have our Director, Dr F.A. Gebremariam, and our Head of Nuclear Medicine, Mrs Zakira Khan, attend as invited speakers. An incredible milestone that highlights their commitment, expertise, and leadership in Nuclear medicine and Diagnostic Imaging. Their contributions were deeply inspiring and a testament to the calibre of professionals driving our mission forward.

We also had the opportunity to host an exhibition stand, allowing us to engage meaningfully with fellow attendees and strengthen the bonds we share with our suppliers and industry partners. This experience has left us energised, inspired, and grateful for the platform, the conversations, and most importantly, the people.

A bone density scan is a quick, painless test that uses low-dose X-rays to measure how much mineral is packed into your bones.

It helps doctors assess bone strength and detect early signs of conditions like osteopenia or osteoporosis, where bones become weak and more likely to fracture.
The scan usually focuses on bones most prone to breaking, such as the hips and spine.

The results include:
• A T-score, which compares your bone density to that of a healthy young adult
• A Z-score, which compares your bone density to others of the same age and s*x

These results help guide decisions around monitoring bone health and preventing fractures.

What is an MRI and do you need one?

MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. It’s a safe, non-invasive scan that uses magnetic fields and radio waves to create detailed images of soft tissues inside the body without using Radiation.

🔹 Often used to examine the brain, spine, joints, muscles, and internal organs
🔹 Helps detect inflammation, injury, or abnormalities that might not show up on X-rays
🔹 Ideal when a doctor needs clear, high-resolution images for a diagnosis or treatment plan

What is Sarcoma?
Sarcoma is a rare form of cancer that begins in the bones or soft tissues like muscle, fat, nerves, and blood vessels. It accounts for less than 1% of adult cancers. Making awareness, early detection, and access to specialized care crucial.

At Gebs Radiology, we support patients and doctors in the early detection, staging, and follow-up of sarcoma using:

-MRI & CT Scans for soft tissue and bone visualization

-PET/CT Scans for assessing cancer spread and treatment response

-Compassionate care every step of the way

What makes 3D mammography different?

Unlike traditional 2D scans, 3D mammography captures layered images of breast tissue, helping radiologists see inside with greater clarity, especially in dense breast tissue.

At Gebs Radiology, these detailed images work alongside interventional radiology to guide procedures like biopsies with improved accuracy and confidence.
It's not just a scan. It’s a deeper look into what’s happening beneath the surface, helping us detect and localize areas of concern with precision.
