Its been some time since my last post, but I have been busy adding sound to my site, which has meant a relook and reorganisation of the content, which will take some time to complete.
Over the next few weeks, I will be publishing some of the new material as it is completed, which I hope will prove interesting, starting with "which tomatoes to grow (or buy").

One of the difficult decisions to make in growing from seeds is choosing from the vast array of available varieties and sources of seeds from major players, smaller speciality companies, online and other internet sources, and retailers racks.

I have just finished reviewing and updating the postings made during the 2021 / 2 growing season on the container pepper garden set on the stuartsgardens.com website for those interested in peppers. The postings cover the development of the pepper garden and the growth of plants and fruit during the season. The postings also cover peppers' intriguing history, explain why peppers burn but don't harm flesh, and are eaten by a quarter of people globally. Follow the links starting at https://stuartsgardens.com/beds-and-containers/container-peppers/overview

Experience the growth of peppers during an eight-month growing season by following the links at the end of each growing period starting with WW 3 & 4 (early spring into full spring) at the start of the 2021 season .

I write this post as I fly toward San Fransisco to see my nephew Wayne and my son David and his family in Palm Springs. I can't wait. It has been too long.
I leave my garden in Cape Town thankful for the rich harvest this growing season as winter approaches.
On the flight, I have started tidying up the site and summarising the season's high and low points plus the resulting learnings, which I will place in relevant site sections when completed.

Although I live on a reasonably large plot ideal for vegetable growing, I had to keep my garden small to help me protect my plants from these raiding animals - baboons. https://stuartsgardens.com/about/radish/influence-baboons

However, five years later, I realised that I would have missed the challenge and joy of learning how to work with nature to grow mature health-promoting vegetable plants in a limited area while facing complex environmental challenges if not for baboons.
