Episode 4 of our Swim False Bay series if from one of my all time favourite places to swim in False Bay, Fisherman's Beach.

Situated South of Simon's Town Fisherman's Beach is a secluded beach just past froggy pond on the way to Cape of Good Hope nature reserve.

It has a small beach with a gentle sand bottom. However during winter the swell and wind can often deposit rocks on the beach so be careful. The popular dive spot A Frame is at the southern end of the Bay and is frequented by a variety of marine life including fish, rays and small shark species.

It is a beautiful beach and wonderful place to swim.

The week ahead is peachy in the Bay with conditions near perfect for much of the week before the South Easter may or may not return on the weekend.

Monday is perfect all day
Tuesday is similar
Wednesday the NW picks up a little but it's still great
Thursday the wind is up again but it looks fabulous
Friday it calms a little
Saturday the SE wind may make an appearance but it also may not so get out early
Sunday see Saturday

Overall a great week to swim if you can!

So a little bit delayed with the report as I'm still getting the water and sand out of my ears after this morning's spin cycle whilst out testing the new Sailfish Pacific (short Sleeved wetsuit) which is amazing!

Then an announcement about our Youth Day swim. We have decided to postpone it until Heritage Day in September as we feel that the warmer weather and waters will be a much more fun and ultimately safer option for the 'Pups', particularly the first timers. If you want more information or if you are perhaps a corporate wanting to get behind the swim (hint hint) then please drop me a line

ps did I mention that we will be opening Simon's Bay Mile Women's Day Swim soon......

Beautiful day in False Bay for a supported swim along the coast between Glencairn and Mackerel Beach where the Clan Stewart Wreck is.

Our 3km out and back route started with a quick sprint through the surf zone to avoid the 2.5m ground swell sets that were breaking hard with the low tide. We then took in the glassy conditions along the coastline and then cruised back before timing our exit perfectly for a great start to the day

If you are interested in a supported swim with us? Then drop us a dm and come and explore the False Bay coastline with our team.

Whenever we have big storms with strong winds and big swell our beaches change! A quick update on Glencairn Beach where the infamous dinner plate rip in the middle of the beach has been broken up into a singular rip that was pulling quite a bit. Some tips from us to help keep you safe and to share with others

Identify the rip
- look for fast-moving water moving offshore
- look for calm spots between the waves
- look for darker channels in the water along the beach
- let others know about the rip

If caught in a rip
- go with the flow. DONT fight it!
- stay calm, relaxed, and float on your back if you can
- swim parallel to the shoreline when the rip releases its grip

The rips at both Glencairn and Fish Hoek Beaches are very active again as we head into winter. Don't get caught out!

Stay Safe
Stay Indoors

Monday and Tuesday we are in the grips of the storm hold on until it eases!

Wednesday afternoon the wind drops off quite a bit so it may be swimmable BUT look out for the swell at Fish Hoek and particularly Glencairn. The rips are very active at both beaches

Thursday is a cracker no wind and calm at the moment. So go swim

Friday the SE comes out of nowhere to start reminding us about summer. Get out early before it picks up

Saturday the South Easter is moderate to strong before turning ON on Sunday which is bot good at all at the moment. So stay indoors

Please consider your need to swim or be outdoors the next 24 hours as our Emergency services are under immense pressure. Let's be sensible

Have a great week

Are you looking for Zoggs goggles? Contact us to get yours!

Finding the right goggles can become a long trial and error process, which is both costly and frustrating. Finding the right pair that fit, DON'T LEAK, are comfortable and durable enough for the demands of Open Water, whether it is in the Ocean or in a River, is really important.

We have used Zoggs for close to 20 years, and they have served us well in a wide range of conditions. So drop us a line or pop in and see us to grab a pair (Cape Town ONLY) to try before you buy. They may just be the answer to end your leaky goggles experience.

At the very least the Eco fog anti fog spray will keep your goggles ready for your next swim!

Your False Bay Weekly Swim forecast brought to you by Swim Cape Town

Tuesday is a good day to swim, BUT be careful at Fish Hoek and Glencairn as there is heavy surf

Wednesday will be choppy but swell drops off a but with the SE light to moderate

Thursday 8s similar to Wednesday

Friday the next cold front makes landfall bringing stong NW winds, rain (much needed) and not that much swell thankfully. The water temp will most likely drop off again

Saturday and Sunday won't be lekker with the moderate to strong NW winds.

The Monday next week looks to bring a short reprieve from the weather but let's see. As always we will update if the weather changes.

Have a great week
